reunion........!

Sixteen years have passed since we--me and my fellow HI 90ers--saw our faces for the first time. Four years following the first meeting were filled with memories, stories, sad moments, happy events, and plain occurances.

And then, all of a sudden, this guys from abroad came back after several years in foreign affairs service. They ask for us to meet somewhere, anytime. Well, who would complain on that simple matter? short notice, undefinite itineraries, let other worry and let us enjoy the moment.

We finally made it to meet up at a small cafe in Semanggi area. When I arrived (seldom happened in my usually punctual habit) most of my comrades had already there: Vedi (his last service was in Hong Kong - seems the the foreign affairs office picked him up for the post according to his looks, hehe; Fachmy (his current affair is urban apparel, wish you luck, bro!); Heru (the hairy man just went back from Buenos Aires, he promised me Casasa but I guess he forgot already).

Hendra (a.k.a. Ong Kos Angkot the flying knife warrior) called me on my way to the spot, saying that he could not make it and passed his regards. Too, bad, as he made it to come few weeks back. Teguh the reporter was also abset, albeit his confirmation earlier on.

Thought the team was complete, but then Wiwied the (ex) entertainer arrived. He came along with some daily staple. It turned out that he was married, two kids, changed direction from freeway-radio-style to finance affair.
Chit-chat, punched few lines, and we were ready for some action: dinner!

Late already, few restaurants remained open, not so much choices, we ended up in so-so tasted restaurant. Continuing our words fight and settling some old scores. Nite maybe late for restaurant, but not for young minds like us. Cmon.. what to do, where to go?? Then, I, the event organizer threw in one of boldest ideas ever thought by HI 90 individuals: karaoke!

We sang like crazy, me and my compadres. And that was without liquor. I wonder what might happen when the liquid was involved; firesquad or police maybe, hehehe.
I enjoyed the moment. Almost nothing changed; our word fight, personal style, well, physical appearances were always out of the list (yes, that includes amount of hair on the heads and trousers sizes). One new phenomenon, back in our glory days of youth nobody from home notice where we had been, but that nite, our time was from time to time interrupted by calls from our dearests.
See you again, mi amigos.

What a dream…

Do you realize what a dream can do to someone??

A dream of a great black man from North America helps people of his color to get what they deserve, the very rights of their own. (It’s kind of tragedy, though. Do we have to fight for our rights? Rights should have been there, otherwise it is not rights, it is a reward).

A dream of the past Indonesian leader was said to be hung up there along with stars. It must be put on high places, so high that sometimes it’s unreachable.

A dream can make one muses all day. Not knowing what exactly he/she wants to do other than thinking about it.

A dream can give preliminary messages to one who believes. Well, I saw three of my four daughters well ahead of their births. Fun isn’t it?

A dream made a farmer boy to travel faraway lands and achieved his personal glory that inspires others.

So much great things dream provide. So much that people love it, try to get to know it more even closer, desperately try to understand it, Yet, dream can not love one back.
